I don't know when they built the powerlines along the SouthWest Path, but I think they're pretty old; I've lived nearby for 20 years, and I walked my dog along the railroad tracks for many years, and the powerline was always there, and it always looked like it had been in place for a long time. But I don't think the line along the path is really high voltage (though I have to admit I don't know for sure), so it's not as incompatible with a bike path as the ATC line would be.
But anyway... I think Jeff is talking about the new line along the Beltline that MG&E built, and put underground, a few years ago. Some of this powerline runs underground near a section of the SW Path, and another stretch is buried underneath a new path that MG&E built when it built the underground powerline. torrey wrote: >> -------Original Message------- >>[snip] I believe the precedent already set >> along the SW path shows that virtually any such path would meet those >> criteria, thereby requiring burial.[snip] > > The SW path does have above ground power lines (which were buzzing and > glowing green during a recent storm).
