With a title like that, how can you resist?
This Thursday, August 17, in 5 PM in Room 260 of the Madison Municipal
Bldg., several city committees and commissions will hold a joint meeting
to hear about the alternatives for the Stoughton Rd (Hwy 51) corridor
from the Beltline to Cty Hwy 19 north of I-94. Representatives from
WisDOT, KL Engineering, Strand Associates, and Vanderwalle & Associates
will be present as well as members of the following city
committees/commissions:
Long Range Transportation Planning Commission
Transit and Parking Commission
Pedestrian/Bicycle/Motor Vehicle Commission.
Several alternatives will be presented. Pedestrian/bike accommodations
are included in all alternatives, but some of the choices will make the
roadway considerably bigger and faster. Several options for
crossing/intersecting East Washington/Hwy 151 will also be given.
There will be ample opportunity in the future for comment. This is
principally a presentation for the three committees, but it will an
early chance to see the options.
This is going to be a major roadway project, regardless of which
alternative is selected, and this corridor is currently a major barrier
for bicycle traffic, so I hope people will take the opportunity to come
out to see what's up.
If you want to check out the project thus far, see the link below. Check
the Alternatives link to see the current options. Maps and text.
