By the way, this is a reminder, Robbie, that it would be good for the
City and University to work together with WisDOT to propose "best
practices" statues and administrative rules etc. in the Governor's
budget soon on mopeds/scooters, Segways, and other individual motorized
transports. This is an issue in most states, increasingly as industry
lobbyists slip things into our law books.

Subject: Re: [Bikies] Golf Carts on Trails

Segways are already allowed on trails. That got slipped in by the Segway

people with little discussion. Their lobbyists hit all 50 states fast
and hard. I have to admire their skill.

As to golf carts, I think the size - especially the width - of the golf
cart is a pretty compelling argument against using them. On a 10 foot
path, I would think passing could be a problem, both same direction and
passing in opposite directions. Scooters and wheelchairs are a different

situation, since they are considerably smaller. Is this person unable to

use one of those for transportation?

The municipality could pass a maximum width ordinance with regard to
their paths. I can't think of any bike trailer that would be excluded,
although loads placed sideways - such as lumber - might be a problem. Of

course, that would generally not be a good idea on a path anyway.
