Police Search for Hit and Run Driver While Bicycle Community Rallies Around Victim

Last Sunday night a bicyclist was struck by a hit and run vehicle in Madison. Madison Police are looking for two possible suspect vehicles. One vehicle is described as a white Jeep Grand Cherokee type vehicle. This vehicle may have some type of bush guard on the front of the vehicle. The second vehicle is described as a black or dark blue 4-door vehicle. Both vehicles were seen on Green Ave. at the time of the crash. It is quite possible that one or both has front end damage or undercarriage damage.

Officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Green Ave. near Knutson Dr. regarding a female bicyclist who had been struck by a vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene without stopping or rendering aid. The 38 year old female victim was transported to a local hospital with severe head and internal injuries, though it appears at this time that her injuries are not critical.

If anyone has any information relating to this crash and the vehicle involved please call Crime Stoppers (where you can remain anonymous) at 266-6014 or the Hit & Run Investigator at 266-4060.

The bicycling community and the victim’s friends and coworkers have begun a fund to replace her bicycle, helmet, and other bicycle equipment destroyed in the crash, as well as to provide a bus pass for the duration of her recovery and help defer other costs.  Contributions to the fund are being made by individuals, as well as local companies including Planet Bike and Trek. Tax deductible contributions to the fund can be made to:
