[I did not visually witness the crash, I had crossed the street before it happened and had walked about a third of the next block when I heard a couple thumps and a woman shouting "Oh, my God!" I did walk back to check what had happened and was among the people who waited until police arrived. A colleague of mine did see it and was calling police when I got to the corner. He said it looked "just like in the movies" [ugh :-( ] with the guy flying off the hood and landing on the ground. The victim was conscious but appeared a bit dazed (to say the least) and was able to talk to police after they arrived (btw, they arrived quickly, good response time.).]
