even if that path were wide enough to accommodate that suggestion (and I'm fairly certain that it is not), it still shows that the "solution" always seems to be reducing capacity (sometimes to nil) for bikes and/or pedestrians.

why, exactly, is it not reasonable to consider reducing the capacity for cars by 33%, rather than reducing the capacity for bikes and/or peds by anywhere from half of previous conditions to nothing at all?
