No shortage of funding for Dane County's other sacred cow.

130,000 aircraft take-offs and landings each year at Dane County's
airport must generate one heck of a lot of fuel burning emissions in
Madison.

Governor Doyle approves $5.9 million for projects at Dane County
Regional Airport
Dane County, October 18, 2006

Governor Jim Doyle has approved $5,907,895 for two improvement
projects at the Dane County Regional Airport-one that will relocate
the terminal loop exit road to allow room for the airport to expand
its parking lot, and the other to upgrade and install a 10-foot
perimeter fence. The Governor's action releases $1,068,947 in state
funds to help complete the projects. Dane County is contributing
another $888,948, and the Federal Aviation Administration is providing
3,950,000.

"These projects come at the end of a major overhaul of the Dane County
Regional Airport that puts it on a par with some of the most modern
and efficient airports in the country," Governor Doyle said. "The
improvements will enhance safety and security at the airport, which
anyone who travels can appreciate." The Governor's "Grow Wisconsin"
plan calls for strategic investments in the state's transportation
network to spur economic growth.

One project will expand the amount of available automobile parking at
the airport and provide space to build additional parking structure
capacity in the future, according to Tom DeWinter, airport development
engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The other
project will help ensure safety of aircraft operations by preventing
wildlife and unauthorized persons from gaining access to aircraft
operational areas.

"This investment in our airport improves public safety and meets
customer demand for more parking close to the terminal," said Dane
County Executive Kathleen Falk.

Wisconsin's second largest airport, Dane County Regional accommodates
some 1.6 million passengers, about 26.5 million pounds of freight and
mail, and approximately 130,000 aircraft take-offs and landings each
year by general aviation, commercial and military aircraft. Eleven
commercial air carriers utilize the airport, with over 100 scheduled
flights per day.
