Clarence Eckerson, a New Yorker who produces short videos on subjects
relating to bike and pedestrian rights and livable street design, is
thinking of visiting Madison with his cameras later this year.

Since he is a relatively sane person, he won't be coming until winter is
over and bikes are plentiful on our streets again; but I think a complete
picture of biking in Madison needs to show how we survive when the weather
is cold and snow is on the ground. It would be especially useful if the
videos could show what the City does (and doesn't do) to keep the streets
and bike paths accessible to bikers in the winter.

I suggest this to Clarence, and he agrees. In his words:

"Is there anyone in Madison that likes to shoot video? If so, it'd be
cool to see what you are talking about in the winter with the plowed
streets and paths. Very cool. If anyone would like to at least
shoot some video of that and some commentary by you or anyone else,
that might be nice to have as a resource. Of course if anyone does
it, we would def. give them credit and as many copies of a DVD we
would do in the future.

"And interestingly enough, right now I am working on a separated bike
path video here in NYC and one of the complaints is that a separated
path wouldn't get plowed in the Winter. Of course all the separated
paths all over the world have little snowplows they use...what a
bunch of b....."

I don't have the skill (or equipment) to produce video that anyone else
would want to look at; but if anyone is interested in participating in
this project (and perhaps, seeing your work on an interesting website),
I'll be happy to do whatever I can to help.
