I just got the spooky news that the Executive Director of the Indiana Bicycle 
Coalition lost her job this week.  No details as to why...but it is clear that 
it wasn't her choice. She held the position for well over 5 years...maybe even 
closer to 10...

Nationwide pattern indeed...

Not sure about Washington, but in general DOTs are highly road/car oriented. 
To most of them, transportation means cars on roads. Perhaps Pete Lagerwey 
was getting too successful for the DOT's comfort.

What has always puzzled me about the hostility road/car oriented folks had 
for bikes is that the more people riding bikes, the more gas will be left 
for those who want to drive. I would think they'd be thrilled to have as 
many people not using gas as possible.
