I haven't seen it elsewhere, I don't think, but I think Steve Meiers' post said
alcohol use was suspected. Is there anything further on this?

Even in a Chevy Tahoe, I think a person should be able to realize the
difference between a grown man on a bicycle & a piece of falling ice. My
sympathy goes out to Dale Connors family & friends. -Aaron Crandall

Authorities: Bicyclist Struck, Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver
Rider Was Apparently Struck From Behind

    UPDATED: 6:37 pm CST February 7, 2007
MADISON, Wis. -- A man riding his bike was hit by a car and killed on
Tuesday night in the Town of Blooming Grove.

According to the Dane County Sheriff's Department, the fatal collision
happened at about 7:45 p.m. on Femrite Drive, under the interstate. The driver
of the car that hit the man later left the scene, WISC-TV reported.

Dale Connors, 53, was found injured and lying in the road. He later died
from his injuries

A 44-year-old Cottage Grove woman contacted authorities later that night
saying that she might have hit something.

The Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney said that she has been very
cooperative in the investigation and she said she thought ice had fallen onto
her Chevy Tahoe.

"It was believed that something possibly had fallen off the bridge and
struck the vehicle," Mahoney said. "It was only through subsequent looking
through the vehicle once she arrived home that she realized that there was more
damage."

The driver hasn't been arrested and it's not clear whether she will face
any charges, WISC-TV reported.

Authorities are asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident to call
the Dane County tip line at 608-284-6900.
