Of all the odd places for a reference to screwed up transportation priorities... I happened to catch a bit of Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home show this weekend (I neither love nor hate this show as much as the polar responses it seems to draw... I guess I'm one of the rare few in the middle about that show), and his Guy Noir character was, for whatever reason, at some kind of hearing discussing a proposal for light rail in Kansas City (presumably the show was on the, ahem, road, that week). He and another character were discussing streetcars (I don't remember exact quotations, but close): GN/GK: Didn't Kansas City used to have streetcars? A: Yes. GN/GK: So what happened to them. A: They tore out more than 300 miles of tracks because people thought it too "old-fashioned." GN/GK: So what are they going to put in now? A: About 29 miles. > "To build a road is so much simpler than to think of what the country > really needs." > -- Aldo Leopold I feel honoured that you see fit to borrow what I used to use as a .sig line. Pass it on! It fits here. -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web.com What can On Demand Business Solutions do for you? http://link.mail2web.com/Business/SharePoint _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://www.danenet.org/mailman/listinfo/bikies
