Position: Director of Events
Responsibilities: Direct event production, registration and volunteer
recruitment for Chicagoland Bicycle Federation.
CBF is hiring for the purpose of investing in the improvement of our
event production including Bike the Drive, one of the nation’s largest
recreational bicycle rides. We seek a person passionate about events and
who has experience and expertise to back up their passion.
Event production and registration:
* Sits on strategic vision team for events with Marketing Director
* Manage event staff (Registration Manager and part-time seasonal
positions)
* Develop event production and day-of-event execution plans
o Run-of-show, venue schematics, timelines/responsibilities,
communication plan, production workplans, production books
* Develop, test and finalize event routes
* Develop event safety plans and manage day-of-event safety
o road closures, barricades, volunteer deployment, signage,
crisis shutdown, fire exit strategy
* Secure event venues, coordinate with Sponsorship Manager on
festival/schematic production
* Manage and fulfill permitting process for all events
* Manage event production budget
* Demonstrate fiscal responsibility in expenses and reporting
* Manage events-related vendor relationships including timelines,
bids, and quantities
* Manage event equipment inventory
Event volunteer recruitment and coordination:
* Develop volunteer recruitment and deployment plans for events
* Act as staff lead for the volunteer manager Route Committee
* Sit on the volunteer manager Event Strategy Committee
* Manage pre-event Wednesday night volunteer parties
* Hire and manage a part-time seasonal volunteer coordinator
Qualifications:
* A desire to improve Chicagoland communities by promoting bicycling
* At least two to three years of major event experience or relevant
experience
* Experience managing employees
* Must have a valid drivers license and ability to drive a 18 ft.
truck and cargo van
* Ability to evaluate vendor bids based on cost, complexity,
competition and quality; must be able to work within budgets and
manage costs effectively
* Excellent organizational, writing and presentation skills
* Experience in volunteer management and project scheduling
* Must be willing to work nights and weekends during event season
* Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office including
Excel, Access PowerPoint
* Ability to lift 50 lbs +
Salary and benefits:
$40,000 - $50,000 depending upon experience and skills. The Chicagoland
Bicycle Federation offers a progressive benefit program that includes
health, dental, and retirement options.
