In fact there are things that we can do to prevent these types of crashes. Cars cannot sideswipe you if they are observing the Wisconsin rules of the road, which require 3 feet of clearance when passing. When you're on the road, you can * choose roads that provide 3 feet of clearance * be visible so that motorists have enough reaction time to safely pass When you're not on the road, you can advocate for better bicycling: 1. Educating motorists about the 3 feet rule 2. Enforcement the 3 feet rule 3. Prosecutation of abuses of the 3 feet rule ( I don't think this ever happens) 4. Require that all roads and highways have wide shoulders so that motorists can safely observe the 3 feet rule. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Darin Burleigh [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://www.danenet.org/mailman/listinfo/bikies
