Thursday, August 2, around 10pm;

Cyclist was westbound in the right lane on 'Old' University Avenue, around
Chestnut street.
A fast-moving motor vehicle attempted to pass with very little clearance.

The cyclist was apparently knocked off his bike, possibly by the passenger-side
mirror,
landing in the terrace. He probably lost consciousness for a short time.

Some neighborhood residents, alerted by the noise, came outside, and called
911. Someone said they
saw a large SUV drive off.

XRays showed that the cyclist suffered a broken clavicle (collarbone).
Fortunately, aside from road rash in a few places, there were no other
injuries.
The cyclist was wearing a helmet, which received much of the impact.

The cyclist had 2 rear blinking red lights, and a reflective vest.

As far as I can tell, the police took no other action than to file an
'accident' report.

The injured cyclist will be wearing a sling for at least a month, unable to
bike (or drive). The cowardly motorist might have suffered a hangover
for a few hours.
