I too am thrilled with the lanes on East Washington! It's a wonderful alternative to the Gorham and Johnson routes, where I'd routinely get cut off or doored from the parking lane, or squeezed into the parking lane by traffic.

Like others, I'd love to see the East Washington lanes extended to the Capitol Square. As is, I get a lot of dirty looks from cars when the bike lane ends but my biking doesn't. I keep pedaling in "their" lane. It's as if all bikes are supposed to disappear when the lane ends.

Now that I live by the Alliant Energy Center and my commute has changed, I've been noticing how jarring the bumps are on the bridges over Monona bay where the asphalt meets the concrete. Between the narrowing bottleneck of the path over the bridge, the people fishing off them, and the abrupt transitions, it's amazing that no one gets clobbered there! I filled out a "Report a Pothole" eForm, so we'll see what happens....
