The DOT is holding yet another meeting to discuss the Verona Rd/Beltline interchange. The price tag for just the interchange could be $55 million, and the portion of Verona Rd leading up to the interchange could take $140 million.

Yeah, and the state Enhancements funding - for our little ped/bike paths, bridges, underpasses, and such - gets $9 million every TWO years, for the ENTIRE STATE! As I've said before, the amount of money alloted to ped/bike projects is a rounding error in one big highway project.

The new project may include an interchange at PD and Verona Rd as well - right where the Military Ridge Trail starts. What do you think the chances are that PD will be bikeable after that? Here's a quote from the article in today's Cap Times:

"The study will also take a look at possibly making the at-grade intersection of Verona Road and County PD into an interchange, also to improve safety and traffic movement."

Safety and traffic "improvements" for whom? Will it be easier to get to Star Cinema for a movie if you are biking from Verona?

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at St. Maria Goretti Catholic School, 5405 Flad Ave. - that's on the west side I believe.
