The subject of global warming is definitely fair game for these
discussion. Arguing against it or its causes should not be.

Global warming has the potential to threaten the lives of billions of
humans and other life forms in years to come, unless meaningful
mitigating actions are taken individually and collectively now. It is not
a meaningless threat since it is adversely impacting millions already.

However, after watching 60 minutes on Sunday, there is no doubt that
higher temperatures (especially earlier springs, increasing drought and
longer falls) have contributed to increased occurrance and severity of
fires in recent years. This is related to global warming and should NOT
be dismissed so casually.

The following was the opening story on CBS "60 Minutes" this past Sunday.
I recommend you play close attention to what the forester says.

"However unpleasant and inconvenient the truth may be, we must expose it
and face it. To be honest is to confront the truth"
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

It is the unintended consequence of way too much fuel burning and paving
by humans, both in the past and currently, and those who profess to not
accept the science of it at this late stage in the game are probably
arguing that for spurious reasons.

Global warming is not the kind of problem that humans will be able to
look back on and correct in the future. It's a problem that's already
with us, we know we are contributing to it, yet we continue on with
business as usual, as if it's someone else's problem. We need to
change that.
