The loons, 1 or 2 or 3, visit in the spring and again in the fall. They
are a welcome visitor.

Subject: [Bikies] Loons!

No, they haven't been spotted riding bikes in Madison.

But this subject is on-topic for this list, because you can see them
hanging out in Lake Monona, a few feet offshore from the Law Park bike
path. To my mind at least, one of the rewards of cycling in Madison is
the opportunity to enjoy my surroundings. This time of year, my
surroundings include migrating waterfowl -- which is pretty cool.

Loons are famous for being shy. But they're on vacation right now, so
they're relatively relaxed about being watched, and you can get a better
look than you might get on a northern lake.

So -- if your interested in these things -- slow down while you're going
past Monona Terrace, and take a look towards the lake.
