I, too, was thinking about the cluelessness my commute this morning. I
don't think the news directors (or the vast majority of the drivers) at
the other stations are any more tuned in, so to speak. As the
congestion and traffic increases gradually, it's hard for drivers (i.e.
almost all of us) to see it in the larger context -- especially if your
view of it is always from behind the wheel. (There's also an analogy
to how we see global climate change.)
That's why George's correspondence with WKOW is so cool. He presents
the news director with an opportunity to look at the issue from a fresh
perspective.
