The Town of Cross Plains meeting for tonight has been canceled after it was
discovered the Plan Commission does not legally exist. If you were planning
on going, save yourself a (very cold) trip.

There had been a call for bicyclists and others that enjoy the open spaces
near the intersection of Timber Lane and Old Sauk Rd to come to a meeting
tonight to speak against a redevelopment plan. It contradicts the Town's
Comprehensive Plan, and also several other plans that call for only one
house per 35 acres. The land was also being considered as National Park
Service visitors' center for the Ice Age Trail.

More information about the issue can be found in yesterday's Cap Times:

There is also a web site mentioned in the above article tat was set up by
local folks fighting to preserve the land as agricultural (as called for in
the Town plan.) This is of interest to many recreational and competitive
cyclists, as both Old Sauk and Timber Lane are major cycling routes, and the
Ironman course runs through the area.

Today's Cap Times has an article about the legal problems of the Town Plan
Commission.
