Highlighted passage:

"The Department of Transportation recently learned of some available
funds from past years, and officials have decided to use it on Beltline
construction."

How wonderful, in these times of imminent budget cuts where I fear the
recently added bicycling line item is about to be nixed, that money has
magically popped up to add capacity to the Beltline. Now, fewer babies
will need to be born along an off-ramp.

It's a shame that money like this never seems to turn up for bicycle
projects like the much needed Perry Street Overpass, which was scrapped
in order to expand road capacity in the Todd Drive Area.

Or am I mistaken - could some of these "available funds" be directed at
bike projects along the Beltline? Perhaps the enhancement money being
mis-directed to the ped/bike components of the Todd Drive project that
should have been funded with the regular road building fund can be
recovered from this surplus so that enhancement justice can prevail?
