The article intro makes it sound like it's being built to help bikes/peds.  The reality is it's primarily being built to move more cars by avoiding those pesky walk signals.  The bad part is it's sucking funds off that could be used for other bike/ped stuff . $1M can add at least 10 miles of off street paths or make a LOT of other improvements.

Now I'm not saying it's not a nice thing for Cap city trail users.  I'm just saying it's not where I would spend that kind of cash.

On the Post road/Bowman circle thing, I keep hearing rumors that eventually Post road will go through.  If not that connection would be a good add, especially if the Perry St. overpass is ever built.  Steve Arnold is a Fitchburg alder that could probably shed some light on it.  His email is on this webpage: http://www.city.fitchburg.wi.us/common_council/index.php

Looks like the Cap City Trail in Fitchburg is going to get an overpass near McKee/Fish Hatch

Map of location:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=43.01550500504762,%20-89.42437648773193&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=17&iwloc=addr&om=0

I would like to suggest another project for Fitchburg:  A connection between bowman circle and Post road:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=118358079799099278650.00043dc8655109e32dbe9&ll=43.026094,-89.40691&spn=0.013569,0.016844&z=16

This could help a lot of bicyclists who would otherwise have to circumnavigate the area using the cap city trail.  Is there anyone from the area near post road that is interested in perusing this?
