The east rail bike path is mostly OK. The path, one block west of Fair Oaks,
at Ryan St., is still mostly snow-covered. Someone (city or neighbor?) chopped
off half of the snow bank, so a bike can get through there. It's still not
wide enough for a full-sized bike trailer.  To the left (going west) is snow;
to the right, a muddy downhill. In past years, the city would put stakes next
to the path to guide the snow plowers, especially at places where the bike path
curves, such as at Ryan St. That never happened, and now we see the wisdom of
those stakes. The sidewalk, which is the official bike route, along Williamson
next to Machinery Row, has been ice-covered and hazardous, and still is despite
all these days in the 40s. Despite numerous complaints, nothing is done. The
city is very generous with their $109 fines to citizens who don't remove snow
and ice, but the city seems to thumb its nose at bicyclists and pedestrians who
expect the same from the city.

Because of the melting/freezing cycles, the Lakeshore Path is muddy
during the day and icy at night and during the morning commute. Any
other condition reports?
