As of Saturday afternoon March 15, the bike trail between Seminole Hwy and Fish Hatchery still has some patches of packed snow and ice covering the entire path width, mostly toward the western part of this segment of the trail. Probably bikeable on a mountain bike, particularly with studs; not on my road tires. These are short enough that they are easily walked. I did the entire path loop up through the University to the Dane Co Coliseum and back along the Nine Springs E-way. The remainder of this loop was quite rideable although fenders would have been nice in a few spots.
However, if the water flowing over the trail in multiple spots freezes, the loop would have lots of patches of black ice. Probably not an early morning ride yet. JT
