It's important for people to try to come to this meeting if you can.
The resurfacing of Gorham Street this summer is a huge project and will
have a significant impact on our neighborhood, and the city as a whole.
Since this affects everyone, people need to come and listen to what is
going to happen and speak up on issues that need be addressed.

There has been a very strong call from the neighborhood to use this
opportunity to return Johnson Street to two way traffic and see what
happens. Please take a moment to view the signatures on the online
petition to get an idea of what people are saying about this idea:

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/johnson2-way/signatures.html
(There are two pages so be sure to use the navigation bar to see both
pages.)

If you have not already signed the online petition, please do so as
traffic engineering is very against this idea. You may remain
anonymous if you wish, but please add a comment if you can. Adding your
street address also shows you live in Madison and will be affected. The
petition is found at:

http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/johnson2-way/index.html

Here are the items I believe will be up for discussion:

-Close gorham completely for a faster reconstruction, or keep it open
and lengthen the construction time?
-Bury utilities as part of this project?
-Return Johnson to two-way traffic to handle detoured traffic? How?
-Where will the buses go?
-Where will the detours be?
-How will we keep commuter traffic off residential streets?
-Who do we contact if construction crew is not wetting down the soil to
prevent major dust pollution?
-Other unknowns?

Thanks for your attention. We cannot miss the opportunity to trial
return Johnson Street to two way traffic and we need your support to
make this happen.
