Here's a good example of a place that was planned without the realities of geography in mind:

Washington Post article: Where the Car Is King, Tysons Faces a Dilemma: Urban Planners Take Aim at Free Parking
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/04/AR2008070402512.html?referrer=emailarticle

And now they are paying the price. Heh.

Here's an original thought from the article (snark, snark):

"Taking a new approach to parking, by building less and charging more, is a central tenet of the new urbanism that has gripped planners and developers in suburbs and cities across the country."

Looks like the really smart people are finally catching on. (Here's a little article from the not-so-smart set circa spring 2002: http://urbanthoreau.com/parking_cashout.html)

This gas thing is just too much fun! Making people finally think for a change!

Now if only we could get those synapses firing up at 210 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Rms Room 403 & 417!
