Come support the extension of the Capital Trail on the east side of Madison. East side bicycle commuters have risen dramatically in number due to gas prices. This will help raise the number even further.
Here is an excerpt from Tony Fernandez's original e-mail: City Engineering is looking at an alternate route for bicycles and pedestrians that will achieve some of the goals of the original project, until such time as we are able to acquire the railroad easements. The interim route would be on-street from Cottage Grove Road to Acewood Park, using Vernon Avenue and Leo Drive. From there it would become a paved path extending south through the park to an existing pedestrian easement connecting to the end of Deerwood Drive. From Deerwood it would continue back to the rail corridor and then south to Buckeye Road via two other existing pedestrian easements. We will be holding a public neighborhood meeting to present the plan, answer questions about the proposed design, obtain neighborhood input and discuss concerns. We have mailed a meeting invitation to about 50 adjacent residences and industrial /commercial properties. This email is going to City and WDNR staff, elected officials, neighborhood representatives and other stakeholders. Please join us for the meeting and please inform others you know who may be interested. The meeting will be held on: Thursday, July 17, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Pinney Branch Library, 204 Cottage Grove Road It will follow an open-house format, with staff present to answer questions. There will be a brief presentation at about 6:45 PM followed by questions or individual discussions. _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://www.danenet.org/mailman/listinfo/bikies
