Was the Chicago group called Working Bikes? They had a display at the top of State Street during the Art Fair. They were letting people try their hands (or feet...) at powering pumps, generators and other machines with bicycles. And asking for bikes, of course; they have a drop-off point and the CTM Family Theater warehouse on the East Side.
