It is unlikely that MPD/state officials will change their language until state statutes are updated.
You can at least take some consolation in the fact that the word "accident", as it is interpreted in state statute, encompases intentional acts. From the notes under section 346.67: “Accident” in sub. (1) means an unexpected, undesirable event and may encompass intentional conduct. By including intentional conduct within the definition, the reporting requirements do not infringe on the 5th amendment privilege against self− incrimination. State v.
