Dear Group,

I was steamed about the characterization of "accident"about an even thrust upon me by a Chicago accountant, talking to his client as he sped through a stop sign on a County road shortcut, hitting me unavoidably on State 49. He destroyed my car and severely compromised my Mother's health. The police report placed him 100% at fault and he lied about the event. He was never charged with much and even paying my Mother's medical bills required a lawyer. My mint condition Checker got the blue book of $250. But would the description--"crash" have changed the outcome? I would expect the accountant did not intend to "crash." Maybe, "negligent event" should be substituted since every crash or accident is that. Whether it is cell phone distraction, old age reactions, or noisy children in the back seat, the fact is every such event is both an accident and a negligent event. But, probably every accident or negligent event is not necessarily a crash.

Eric
