Michael, Thanks for the link to your blog. I was startled by one of the comments (copied below). I don't 'give up my rights as a cyclist' (whatever that means) if I choose not to ride their stupid bike lane. You can find a PDF of the 'Fall/Winter Guide' on Monona's web site under 'Recreation' http://www.monona.wi.us/index.asp?Type=B_BASIC&SEC={6BC2D34B-FAFC-4A9E-97D5-50EE1B2E70E6}
I also found this in their city ordinances: "(7) Whenever a usable path for bicycles has been provided adjacent to a roadway, bicycle riders shall use such path and shall not use the roadway" That can't be legal, can it? Paging Tom Huber! these guys need a serious talking to. --- [Comments by 'Merlin' -- This is a quote from the city of Monona's 2008 Fall/Winter Guide.: The author is Lieutenant Fred Fenton. Feel free to send him an email ffenton at ci.monona.wi.us (excerpt #1) • ride on the “red concrete” when riding on Winnequah Road. These concrete paths are there for bicycle and pedestrian use—you give up your rights as a cyclist when staying on the road where the paths are available -- ===== darin _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://www.danenet.org/mailman/listinfo/bikies
