The group to which Aaron refers meets in the winter too, just inside.
Fridays in the Shtiftskeller, near the bar. Everyone is welcome to join us.

However, to be clear, it isn't now, nor has it ever been a "Bikies" meet up.
It just happens that some of the most regular, most vocal and oldest (oldest
subscriptions, not necessarily age) members of Bikies are also regulars at
the Friday happy hour*.

I don't think any of the Friday night regulars (OK, maybe a few grumps), who
have in the past included most of the Madison BFW staff, would object to our
table(s) expanding to include a Bikies meet-up.

No one needs an invitation. All are welcome. Try not to take the discourse
personally. The debate can get intense at times.

* For those interested in the history, it all started when the Geography
graduate students would go to the Union after the obligatory Friday
afternoon guest lecture. Both Mike Barrett and I were in that program. When
both Mike and I got involved with bike advocacy, we dragged the bikies and
other agitators along. Then for awhile a bunch of politicos were coming. And
a couple people lived at Sherman Terrace, so they brought their neighbors.
Of course, all the above people also had assorted roommates, family members,
friends, dates, work pals, and other people that came by. And so, a rotating
group of bedraggled losers, with nothing else to do on Fridays, has been
gathering at the Union for 20 years!
