Thanks!

On a side note, under whose jurisdiction is the current construction
on University Bay Drive itself? I dropped a note to Shorewood Hills
Public Works (and haven't heard back), but the construction on the
road at the top of the hill (just before the Children's Hospital) is
very bike-unfriendly. No warning as to the loss of the bike lane, and
across the entire width of the road is a 20-foot section of dirt/
gravel, with scattered gravel along the bike lane for a few hundred
feet, right as you go down a hill. Makes the last part of my commute
a little...interesting, shall we say?

The gravel segment accommodates the new faculty office building going in next to the Hospital. It should be fixed soon if the asphalt plants don’t close too early. TheVillage of Shorewood Hills is looking into changes for University Bay Dr. and I will ask that they consider bike lanes. Things are tight there because of the topography so it may be a challenge.

I think my concern was actually about the bike lanes that already exist on Highland, in front of AFCH. I am pleased to say that the rough, gravelled area was patched up sometime early this week, so things are safe again. I did find it troubling how they left it like that for at least a couple of weeks...it was absolutely fine for motorists, but dangerous for cyclists.

Of course, with the construction about to start across the way at the corner of Marshall Court and University Bay Drive as well (and the AFCH and First Unitarian Society construction having ended not too long ago), that area seems to be in the midst of a perpetual makeover. Although given I spend a fair deal of time in those buildings, I guess I shouldn't complain too much. :-)

Thanks again.

Peace and Prosperity,
Dipesh
