University - Campus Drive bike path progress blocked at Marshall Court

A temporary snow fence has been erected at the west end of the surface
parking lot between Sai Bai Thong (Thai) restaurant and the medical
professional buildings. Presumably to stop bicyclists and pedestrians from
walking or biking on the parking lot connecting the end of the University -
Campus Drive bike path and the Shorewood Hills city park (swimming pool,
tennis courts, community gardens) and all points east-west. This is on the
surface parking lot along the railroad right-of-way on the north side of
University Avenue between Highland Avenue and Marshall Court (a.k.a. between
Farley and Ridge Streets). This is the same parking lot that hosts the array
of rainbow colored lights on the arborvitae "Christmas Trees".

It is not my regular route, so not sure how long this has been the
situation, but it is an unfortunate development. Presumably this is private
property. While Marshall Court, a half-block to the north may be a
reasonable thoroughfare for bicyclists, I know that the parking lot has been
routinely used as a "short cut" for many years. I suspect that the opening
of the bike path has increased the visibility/desirability of the short cut
and more bicyclists are now going this way - apparently to someone's
misguided displeasure.
