The truth of the matter is that busy parking lots like that one are very dangerous for cyclists. I'm sure someone here could come up with the statistics to back me up (or not) but I would speculate that you are more likely to get hit in a busy parking lot then you are riding on a busy road like University Ave. I have not doubt that someone will get hit there if we all keep on cutting through that way. I am as lazy and like short cuts as much as the next guy, but perhaps the owner is doing us a favor.
