Sure, such a bike trail would be nice. I bike from Shorewood Hills to Middleton once a month via Old Middleton Road. I find this route acceptable, and once I am past the Old Sauk Road intersection, it is almost pleasant with modest car travel - EXCEPT that stretch from Capitol Ave to the Middleton city limit. The pavement is a bouncy blacktop jumble. Its one-foot wide ped/bike lanes are overgrown by bushes, and a mailbox blocks it in one place. Instead of asking for or dreaming about a pie-in-the-sky, way-off-in-the-future trail overbuilt to expensive federal(?) standards, I'd rather have soon a decently surfaced Old Middleton with bushes trimmed. Much cheaper than the trail, and adequate for the small group, unfortunately, of long-distance bike commuters. -- Michael von Schneidemesser (aka Mike vons) 3555 Tally Ho Lane, Madison,WI 53705-2126, USA +608 233-3051 _______________________________________________ Bikies mailing list [email protected] http://lists.danenet.org/listinfo.cgi/bikies-danenet.org
