Friends -

This will be an important meeting to attend and voice your concerns about
the intersection of Fish Hatchery Rd and the Beltline. Please pass the word
to others that might want to know about this.

Article in Wisc State Journal yesterday with more info:
http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/local/315831

Regardless of the mode of transportation you use, this intersection is
horrible, but for pedestrians and bicyclists, it is a huge barrier. I'm a
pretty fearless bicyclist, but this Beltline crossing makes me very tense.
Until the Perry St overpass gets built - which is not scheduled at all right
now - this is the de facto way to cross the Beltline to/from Fitchburg,
jobs, residential areas, and many other daily needs. With
low-income/moderately priced residences on one side, and entry level jobs on
the other, not to mention all the people commuting between Fitchburg and
Madison for professional jobs, we desperately need a safe way to cross the
Beltline by foot and bike at Fish Hatchery.

Please attend, if possible, or comment via phone/email as noted below.

The meeting will be at the Madison Street & Sanitation Building, 1501 W.
Badger Road from 5 to 7 p.m. Those attending will be able to ask questions
of the DOT staff. Those who cannot attend the meeting may still comment by
contacting DOT project manager Gary Sassman at 608-246-3859 or by e-mail at
