We aren't trying to cut transit-dependent people out of the process of advancing transit improvements. To the extent that there has been resistance to the Tranport 2020 recommendations, it has come from outlying areas, which see it as a way of serving Madison's needs at the expense of the rest of Dane County. Hence, we decided to go "out there" and involve people in the process and explain how Transport 2020 will help them. (Although Middleton is 4 miles from my house, which is 3 miles from the Capitol, so I think the distances are a little bit overstated.)
Distances given are from my house, according to Google maps. From your description, you're between 2 and 4 miles northwest of my place. That puts the Stoughton meeting a bit further for you, and the other two *much* closer. Madison proper is roughly 15 miles long, and about 4 or 5 miles wide at the widest point.
Let me rephrase so it is clearer. Transit dependent folks can't *get* to these meetings to show support. There isn't transit service to two of the meeting locations. If there are people who can offer car space, great. Without that, I can't go. It is neither safe nor practical for me (or any other less skilled/less able) cyclist to attend.
Asking us to do so without any consideration of the practicalities is thoughtless, and will not result in us showing up.
