The City will begin the eastern portion of its utility and University
Ave./Gorham St. reconstruction project this coming Monday, March 18. The
project stretches from State St. on Gorham to East Campus Mall on University
Ave. Gorham St. will be reduced to one lane westbound and University Ave. will
be reduced to two lanes westbound.
Note: the western portions of this project stretching from Park St. through
Campus Dr. to Shorewood Blvd. will begin in May.

Conditions for bicyclists throughout this construction project are not going to
be great. If you can find an alternate route to University, that would be your
best bet. Of course, other construction in the area will also reduce the
ability to use nearby streets. The needs of bicyclists are being considered in
all of these projects, but ultimately it is just going to be unpleasant for all
road users in this area for some time to come.
