Just a reminder before the holiday weekend. Important public meeting on Tuesday, May 26 at 6:00 PM, Room 260 of the Madison Municipal Bldg.
At 6:00 PM, the Pedestrian/Bicycle/Motor Vehicle Commission (PBMVC) will hold a hearing on needed bicycle/pedestrian infrastructure improvements for the city of Madison. That is, stuff that needs to be built. Press release on this here: http://www.cityofmadison.com/news/view.cfm?news_id=1471 If you cannot make it to the meeting, but want to provide input, you can send emailed comments to: [email protected] Make sure you indicate that these comments are for the Tuesday hearing, and that you would like them distributed to Commission members. And a final reminder to not forget the projects that you have spoken for in the past, but still need to be built. Some of those still need support at the city level. More on that in future emails, but below are two that come to mind. 1. Perry Street overpass - which would provide a crossing of the Beltline between Park and Fish Hatchery, and would provide a nice link to Seyne Rd, and excellent route to Fitchburg and other parts south. We saw tons of speakers on this project two years ago, and then nothing last year. 2. Tocora Path - a bit of connection from Tocora Ln into the east side of the University Research Park that will be considered at the Board of Public Works on June 3. (Mark your calendars for that date for another project as well. More info to come soon.) Bicyclists and pedestrians have been trying to get this built for about 10 years. It would be nice to have support for it at the PBMVC meeting in advance of the June 3 Public Works meeting. Are there other connections that you want to see built? This is the time to speak up! -- Robbie Webber Bike Walk Madison Steering Committee www.bikewalkmadison.org Join our group on Facebook!
