Bike to Work Week is right around the corner and if you haven't already checked out our website to see the full schedule of events and to take the Bike to Work Week pledge, visit our site: www.biketowork.bfw.org
Secondly, thanks everyone who's already signed up to volunteer, we really appreciate your help! Yet, with so many great events planned, we've still got a lot of volunteer opportunities. There are three things in particular with which we really need help: distributing posters, staffing the Morning Commuter Stations and helping with the Final Celebration. Please contact [email protected] if you're interested and available to help! For all people volunteering, the Bike Fed is hosting a *Volunteer Orientation on Tuesday, June 2nd at our office from 7-8pm *where volunteers will get more specific information on each event as well as awesome Bike Fed t-shirts. Following the orientation at 8pm those who are interested can stay and help stencil yard signs advertising the Morning Commuter Stations. If you are volunteering for Bike to Work Week yet unable to attend the volunteer orientation, please contact Bridget to make arrangements to pick up your material. Below is a description of all of the opportunities to volunteer, again thanks for helping out! *Poster Distribution*--Our posters this year are beautiful pieces of art--let's paint the town with them! We need help getting posters all across town. If you'd like to grab a stack, posters can be picked up from either the Bike Fed office during the work week or at the following bike shops: Yellow Jersey, Machinery Row, Trek East & West, REI West, Erik's East & West, Williamson Bikes East & West, Old Town Cycles, Budget Bicycle Centers, Revolution Cycles *Morning Commuter Stations*--Greet morning commuters with a warm cup of coffee and snacks along one of Madison's bike paths and answer any questions they may have about the Bike Fed and biking in Madison. In addition, volunteers will be asking participants to fill out a Bike to Work Week pledge card which we'll be able to use at the end of Bike to Work Week to determine how many miles people biked during the week. Morning Commuter Stations we need help with are: *Capitol City Trail at Broom St: 7 - 9am Monday, Thursday & Friday SW Commuter Path at Glenway: 7 - 9am Monday, Wednesday & Friday Isthmus Commuter Station: 7 - 10am Tuesday, June 9th* *Bicycle Friendly Business Happy Hour*--Act as a Bike Fed Ambassador for the night as this night is an excellent opportunity to talk to as many people as possible about all of the amazing work happening in Madison and around the state as the Bike Fed works to make Wisconsin one of the best places in the world to be on a bike. 5 - 6:30pm Restaurant Magnus *Final Celebration*--What volunteer gig is better than handing out pizza slices and beer at a party? We need some floaters and smooth operators for our final celebration to ensure that our cycling festivities are fun, safe, and clean! 3 - 7pm Vilas Park Pavillion Thanks again for helping out with Bike to Work Week!
