Bikies - I am replying to Mark's message in order to emphasize the bit that is below. Many of us have been trying to get this path built for over 10 years. It is frequently requested at the PBMVC hearings.
Your help is needed for this critical hearing on June 3. The alder for the district, Thuy Pham-Remmel, needs to hear from people that support this connection. There are a few loud opponents, and their voices need to be counteracted. This path connects a residential neighborhood (Midvale Heights), with quiet, bike-friendly streets, to the University Research Park, a major employment center. There is currently no safe, attractive, and direct bike route into the Research Park from the east. This would remedy that problem. If you live or work in the area, you are probably familiar with the need for this path. If you MIGHT work in Research Park in the future, you will want this to be built. If you just want better bicycle-pedestrian connectivity to employment centers, your voice is also needed. You can email Tony Fernandez at: [email protected] to submit your comments. Ask that your comments be forwarded to the Board of Public Works. If you can come to be meeting to testify, that is even better. This is especially true when heading east to go home in the evening. I have been trying since 1996 to get connectors at Tocora Lane and/or Manor Cross but vocal neighbors in the vicinity of the proposed connectors have successfully blocked past attempts to build these connectors.
