In days of yore (many of you will remember), before Bike to Work Week 
registration was 
mostly online and I was a worksite co-ordinator, one of the survey questions 
was "I would 
bike to work more if..." followed by several multiple-choice options. The most 
common   
response, esp. from women who registered, was "better facilities to change / 
clean-up at  
work" (or the like). Interesting that this article didn't even mention this as 
a "what 
women want" item. I suppose one could draw, from this, that the street/safety 
issue isn't 
as prominent _here_, but that would be a surprise.
