Overall, I think it is a fair article. Needless to say, my 1/2 hour talk with the reporter was distilled into a couple of sentences. I don't mind, however, as I think I gave her a good background on the issue. There was quite a bit of discussion between my posit, about whether development patterns would be different if we stopped road expansion, and my comment that to do so would be "political suicide." One gripe I have with the article, was this paragraph, or more correctly the last phrase: "Cieslewicz adds that the condition of the city’s roads not only affects drivers, but also buses, bicyclists and pedestrians, with many road projects — whether they increase capacity or not — including costly pedestrian and bicyclist amenities." I don't think the Mayor actually referred to pedestrian and bicycle accommodations as "costly," or if he did, he has no idea what he's talking about. The cost to make a road work for all users is pennies compared to the overall cost of the road itself. Although I have my gripes with the Mayor, I cannot imagine that he actually thinks complete streets are considerably more expensive than ones that only facilitate motorized traffic. Having been misquoted myself on a fairly regular basis, I'll assume that's what happened here.
