I will say that I hope that if Kendall is designated a "Bike Boulevard" that they give some more attention to clearing it of ice. The block between Franklin and Farley was covered in significant ice for multiple weeks last winter, and when I would report the issue, I was told that since it wasn't a major thoroughfare, they wouldn't apply any salt at all. The road surface was fine for cars, but hazardous for a bicycle. In my 1.5-mile commute from home to UWHC by bike, it was the one block that slowed me to a crawl. Parallel streets were similarly bad.

I can't comment on it this winter since I don't commute to the hospital much now...while I'm all for reducing salt usage, this was an example of how it was potentially preventing bike commuting.

Peace and Prosperity,
