Bike riders, runners and walkers will need to take the long way
home around Lake Monona, starting on Monday.
The Madison Traffic Engineering Division announced on Wednesday
that the Capital City trail running next to John Nolen Drive will
be shut down for almost two months because of construction.
John Nolen Drive will also be affected by the project, with
moderate to severe delays expected.
The project will begin Monday, March 29, and is expected to be
completed by May 15.
Speedway Sand and Gravel will be working on the causeway bridge
approaches for both the traffic lanes on John Nolen and the Capital
City trail.
Moderate delays are expected on John Nolen Drive from March 29
through April 4, as lanes will be reduced at various times of the
day.
Severe delays on John Nolen can be expected from April 5 through
May 15, with bottlenecks forecast at the North Shore Drive and
Broom Street intersections with John Nolen.
A detour route for Capital City trail users will be posted.
Bicyclists should plan on extra time for their journeys and are
also encouraged to find an alternate route.
