Dear Bikies,* On May 7 - 9th, all eyes will be on Madison as the UW Cycling team hosts the 2010 Collegiate Cycling Nationals. *Please help support this great national cycling event in Madison by giving a few hours of your time as a volunteer. As a volunteer you'll get the opportunity to watch our country's most promising cyclists compete and contribute to the success of USA collegiate cycling's premiere event. All volunteers will get training, a T-shirt, and food as a thank you for helping the UW Cycling team host this national-level competition.
The UW Cycling Team is a tremendous supporter of the Bike Fed's efforts, and in 2009 alone the team contributed well over 100 volunteer hours at Bike Fed events in Madison. Interested volunteers can contact Ken Huxtable, [email protected], ph: (920) 850-7946. Below is more information about the event, along with specific volunteer needs. All the best, Brian -------------- Begin forwarded message: The UW-Cycling Club is continuing to wrap up the details for Cycling Nationals, and everything is coming together very well. Last fall, the Cycling Team at the Unversity of Wisconsin applied to USA Cycling to host the 2010 and 2011 Collegiate Cycling Road Race National Championships... and received the bid! This means that 800+ collegiate cyclists from around the country will be coming to Madison to participate in a Road Race, a Criterium, and a Team Time Trial from May 7-9 of this year and the same weekend in 2011. -Road Race will be held in Blue Mounds State Park -Criterium will be held on the Capitol Square -Team Time Trial will be held in Waterloo, WI at the TREK factory The Cycling Team is working with Team Sports, Inc., a cycling event promoter out of Wauwatosa, WI. Team Sports, Inc. also promotes various cycling and triathlon events throughout the Midwest, including the giant 10 day cycling event Tour of America’s Dairyland. Basically what I am trying to say is that this event is going to be huge. The best collegiate athletes from around the country, some of whom are even Pros, will be here in Madison fighting for bragging rights. But, we need volunteers!!!! Volunteers for the event will be doing everything from guarding corners to checking people in to providing other volunteers and USA Cycling staff with food and water. The shifts available are as follows: Friday, May 7th in Blue Mounds, WI -- 7:30am to 12:30pm, 12:00pm - 5:00pm Saturday, May 8th on the Capitol Square -- 2:30pm to 7:30pm Sunday, May 9th in Waterloo, WI -- 8:45am to 12:30pm Thank you very much for your help with this event! Volunters will receive a free T-shirt and food as a thank you for helping host this national-level event.
