A few notes:

C. 1 - The UW and Erdman Development Group are testing a park-and-bike
at the currently former Irish Waters property at Whitney and
University Ave. People can park their bikes in the building and get
access via a keypad. They can park their cars in the lot (or take the
bus, or get dropped off via carpool), grab their bikes, and finish the
trip to work via bike. I'm not sure if access to the facility is
available to non-UW folks, but it's a great idea.

C. 2 - If you wanted to know what the process is for transportation
projects, here's your chance to find out which committees review which
types of projects, and what the timing is as a project moves through
the city system.

C. 3 - Monroe-Regent-SW Path. This is NOT a total rebuild of the
intersection, so don't come looking for tunnels, bridges, or huge
changes in where all the curbs are. At some point in the future the
intersection WILL be rebuilt, but this is more along the lines of
keeping things going until then.

The intersection will be repaved, new signals put in, new pavement
markings, a few small changes to the islands, etc. The plans and specs
are not on-line yet, but I will post an update when they are
available. It looks like there will also be a city press release about
some of the changes, so check the papers in the next few days. I have
word that quite a few changes will vastly improve how pedestrians and
bicyclists use this intersection. Seeing as it's pretty messed up now,
I'm excited about any change to improve the situation.

C. 4 - A bump-out at Franklin Ave and Kendall as part of the proposed
bike boulevard. This is where the street changes from Bluff or
Kendall, and is also the end of the portion of road that Metro uses
for routes. Motorized traffic will be prevented from continuing
eastbound from Kendall to Bluff, but bicyclists, plows, emergency
vehicles, etc. will still be able to go eastbound. Westbound traffic
will not be affected at all.

C. 5 - Summary of the comment from last month's public hearing.

C. 6 - How and when crosswalks are painted. Another "if you ever wondered" item.

C. 7 - A couple of traffic signals on E. Mifflin to make biking on
this new bike boulevard easier. A full signal at Webster and Mifflin,
and a HAWK signal - basically a special signal for bicyclists to
create a gap in Blair St traffic. Brenda Konkel has more on this item
at her blog. OK, she appears to be quoting an email, but there's more
info nevertheless:
