It is my impression that most of you who read/post to these blogs are progressively-oriented - and secular or quite liberal in your religious outlook. Perhaps you are not aware that there are "paleocons" out there whose distaste for Happy Motoring is no less passionate than your own. The guy who posted this - he also cofounded the website - is a big fan of James Howard Kunstler (and Wendell Berry).

The Party's appeals to baser human instincts (fear, selfishness, etc) revolt such people. My question is whether progressively-inclined ped/bike/transit advocates would be willing to set aside differences on the usual hot-button social issues and reach out to paleocon ped/bike/transit supporters.
