Isn't that what GOVERNMENT DOES--subsidize certain interests? Aren't
they so often creating this economic coercion you speak of------because
they are the only ones who can spend when there is no market? You are
correct in the subsidization of the motor car and the roads. In fact
GOVERNMENT also made a dis-incentive for light rail in Chicago. The
STREETCAR companies were forced to maintain a percentage of the entire
street. Therefore they switched to buses and then the Gov simply took
over the municipal transit as the CTA. But you are correct-----it
was the planners in Government and their hand maidens--the special
interests who feed and control governments against-------FREE CHOICE.

=v= It was economic coercion. You're leaving out the fact that
nearly every aspect of the flight to the suburbs was subsidized,
and that unsustainable subsidy is what props it up to this day.
=v= It's easy to make a "choice" when others are footing the
bill. If those who drive everywhere had to do so without the
rest of us propping them up, there'd be a whole fewer cars
running us off the road. The suburbs wouldn't last very long
at all, either.
